Keeping in Touch

Good two-way communication between parent/carers and school is necessary for your pupils' success. Not surprisingly, research shows that the more parents/carers and teachers share relevant information with each other about a pupil, the better equipped both will be to help that pupil achieve their goals. There are many ways we touch base with you over the academic school year:

Daily

Lower School and GB Class have a communication book that comes home with the pupil daily; parents/carers can complete with any notes, achievements, successes, updates, or concerns.

Upper School please email your child’s form tutor with any notes, achievements, successes, updates or concerns.

All parents/carers can also contact the school office by phone 01268 774723 or email admin@cedarhall.esex.sch.uk and the school office team can support and pass on messages or notify staff of any specific issues.

If your child is absent from school due to illness or an appointment, it is important that you let us know on the first day of absence. Cedar Hall has a secure system for reporting your child’s absence.  The Studybugs app is free to download or you can register on the Studybugs website . If you prefer there is also an automated absence line that can be reached by telephoning the school on 01268 77472 after 8.30am.

We pride ourselves on having an open door policy so should you need to come into school in person during the school day, a member of staff will be at hand to support you.

School Letters and Weekly Newsletter

Cedar Hall uses an online system called InTouch to send information home to parents via email. We do appreciate that most parents/ carers prefer access to information via phones, tablets and computers, plus it also reduces paper usage. Should you require a paper copy of any letter or newsletter then please contact the school office.

Annual Reviews

All annual reviews are held in the latter part of the autumn term, you will be contacted with details. As part of the process, you will be asked to complete some parent/carers views forms.

Other Contact

During the school year there will be 2 further planned opportunities to check in with the teaching staff, depending on what department your child is in it will come in different forms, it could be: meet the teacher, view your child’s work, setting learning goals etc.

School Reports

Reports will be sent home the latter part of the summer term and will cover all aspects of learning from your child’s school year.

To ensure that you are kept up to date with all the relevant school information please call or email the school office with any changes to your contact details.
